Pinc Giving

Pinc Giving was one of our first clients at Thirdi, and also one of the most interesting. Pinc is a platform that enables non-profits to raise money with the same level of polish and efficiency as a for-profit eCommerce site. That removes a significant hurdle to online fundraising for smaller charities. Even within the world of non-profits, the Pinc platform works as a leveling force. Through Pinc, a rural community center can raise funds in the exact same way as The Red Cross. We love a project that makes the world a little bit flatter.

Beverley (Pinc's founder) came to Thirdi in its early days, before the shiny Yaletown office space and the room packed with developers. The initial version of the Pinc service was created by the uber talented Mark Deepwell who single-handedly designed, architected, and built it in two months. Looking back on that period, Mark says that the only reason the site was completed on time was because he didn't know the deadline was impossible.

Over the last two years, Pinc has blossomed into a much broader and more powerful force in the world of charitable giving. Thirdi has been proud to help fuel that growth by constantly advancing the product. Donors can now give through retail gift cards, via 3rd party websites, through search results, and on Ning social networks. The service has been a smash hit for non-profits, who can offer a donation system that they otherwise would not be able to build.

Pinc also allows anyone to securely direct a campaign for any non-profit. That means that there are charities around the world who have had the pleasant surprise of receiving a cheque in the mail from Pinc without having to raise a finger.

The relationship between Thirdi and Pinc exemplifies the relationship we would like to have with all of our clients. Everyone involved looks at this as a partnership. We use our knowledge of eCommerce to help improve conversions, and lower transaction costs. The Pinc team uses their knowledge of the non-profit world to forge partnerships and help non-profits find grant money.
